The Oxford Internet Institute (OII) is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its founding with a black tie Gala Dinner and awards ceremony, to be held at Balliol College on Thursday 22 September 2011.
The evening will provide an opportunity to honour the OII’s founders, as well as to recognise some of the individuals and organisations who have played a pivotal role in shaping the extraordinary ecosystem that is today’s Internet. Bringing together friends and faculty of the OII, corporate partners, and members of the press, this special event will reflect on the past ten years of Internet (and OII) achievements and look forward to the opportunities and challenges of the next decade of Internet advance. We also hope to mark the event by using any additional funds raised from ticket sales and sponsorship to support a scholarship for our MSc in Social Science of the Internet.
This black tie gala event will begin with a champagne reception at the Oxford Internet Institute, enabling guests to meet with faculty, view our new media installations, and find out more about the OII. Weather permitting, guests will be able to move through for more champagne in the beautiful gardens of Balliol College.
The dinner will take place in Balliol’s historic Hall, where a seasonal three-course ‘Feast’ menu will be served with wines from the College wine cellar. Each table will be hosted by a member of OII faculty. The awards ceremony will be held over the course of the evening, and at the end of the dinner the College Buttery will be opened for drinks and the continuation of conversations.
